Description
The idea for this project originated several years ago. Since wild birds are constantly searching for food throughout the year and can hardly find enough natural food due to land sealing and monocultures, I wanted to redefine this situation with a newly designed bird feeder column. After successfully testing the prototypes on my balcony for over two years, I began searching for a suitable material.
A Viennese metalworking shop manufactures and polishes the brass bowl; the honeycombed mesh is a high-quality, corrosion-resistant aluminium grid normally used in the auto racing industry. The container is perforated at the bottom to allow water to drain and drilled on the side to accommodate the perch. The parts are assembled with the mesh in place, and the perch is secured with knurled nuts. The brass bowl also contains a spacer and a fiberglass mesh to keep the seeds from lying in the water. Finally, insert the solar light into the upper part, and place the brass handle on the side of the grid. To fill the solar lamp, remove it from its base and fill it with sunflower seeds or other seeds up to about 2 cm below the top of the lamp. The controller on the underside of the lamp (inside) can be set to a warm or cooler light colour.
At night, BIRDS DRIVE IN—the bird feeder column—lights up! True craftsmanship in an elaborate design! Enjoy birdwatching!

Ideal location:
– Protected from rain and snow; a dry, partially shaded spot
– At a safe distance from glass panes (not directly in front of them)
– Suspended above the ground; should be out of reach of cats and martens
– Protected hanging ensures safety from other large birds
– Recommended for year-round bird feeding
– makes it easier for birds to find food, especially during winters with heavy snow and frost
– Easy to observe from a distance from the window (!)
– ideal for sunflower seeds (6/6 mm mesh size prevents most seeds from falling out)
– Can be refilled through the removable solar light
– perch
– stable mesh for birds to cling to
– no risk of contamination from bird droppings
– easy to clean; wipeable
– perforated bottom ensures water drainage, including a spacer mesh inside the bowl
