Description

To paint koi carp was a challenge I had been rising to for months. But when I came up with the idea to print the painting on breakfast boards, aprons and shirts, I realized that an exciting process had already begun.

Switching from pastel chalks and gouache to oil paint means a new approach and another technique. As the original is rather large (100*70cm), another composition was necessary; on the one hand I was going for reduction, then again it was detail I wanted: scales, underwater depictions, the dark purple background, the dynamics of swimming etc. After having been completed the painting was photographed by a professional and printed in a quality printer’s shop.
